A 20-year-old man has been arrested in Tshilwavhusiku, in the Vhembe District, after allegedly raping his 13-year-old sister repeatedly over several months.
The abuse came to light on Tuesday, 26 May, when the girl's mother took her to a local clinic after she complained of illness and vomiting. A pregnancy test conducted during the medical consultation confirmed that the child was pregnant.
The victim allegedly disclosed that her older brother had been sexually assaulting her since January 2026, entering her room at night without her consent. Police were notified and a case of rape was opened. The suspect was arrested shortly thereafter.
He is expected to appear before the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 28 May, on a charge of rape. Police investigations are continuing.
