A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his younger brother during a dispute at Hamanavhela village in the early hours of Sunday.
Police spokesperson for Vhembe, Captain Vuledzani Dathi, said officers were alerted to the incident at about 03.30 and rushed to the home.
“On arrival, members found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound next to the neck. The suspect, who is the elder brother, was seated next to the body,” he said.
The brothers reportedly shared a bedroom. The older man had arrived with his girlfriend and allegedly wanted to sleep with her in the room, but the younger brother objected, sparking a heated argument.
“The quarrel escalated and the elder brother allegedly took out a knife and stabbed his younger brother,” said Dathi.
The suspect was arrested at the scene, and the knife believed to have been used in the attack was confiscated.
He is expected to appear in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court soon, while investigations continue.
