Eight teams from Mulodi and the surrounding areas will be engaged in the Bumba Soccer Tournament matches this weekend. All matches will be staged at the Phalama grounds.
The quarterfinal matches will be played tomorrow. The programme will commence with the match between Sambandou United Professionals and Mulodi Young Santos at 09:00. Muledzhi Fire Boys and Lamvi FC will enter the field of play at 11:00.
The match not to be missed will be between Mulodi Freedom Birds and Rambuda Young Fighters, which is scheduled to kick off at 13:00. Freedom Birds have been out of action for almost two months now as they stopped training when the league activities for the previous season came to an end in May. On the other hand, Young Fighters are still hot when one takes into account the fact that they had been engaged in a number of tournaments over the past month. Young Fighters were booted out of the Khubvi Soccer Tournament by Ficus FC last Saturday.
Thengwe Flying Peace will rub shoulders with Tshandama Try Together later in the afternoon.
The winners in the quarterfinal matches will meet in the semis on Sunday. The first semifinal match is scheduled to start at 09:00 and the second at 11:00.
According to one of the organizers for the tournament, Mr Dakalo Ratshitanga, the champions will receive a cash prize of R3 000. The runners-up will receive R1 500 and the teams that will be booted out in the semifinal stage will each receive R500. A local businessman, Mr Bumba Netshisaulu, is the main sponsor of the tournament.
