Can Freedom Birds fly over Tshimuthe FC?

The quarterfinal matches of the Nwali Soccer Challenge KO Competition will be played at the Khubvi Benjie's Grounds on Saturday.

The quarterfinal matches of the Nwali Soccer Challenge KO Competition will be played at the Khubvi Benjie's Grounds on Saturday.

After beating Rambuda Young Fighters 7-6 at the same grounds last Sunday, whether Mulodi Freedom Birds will have enough strength to push the stubborn Tshimuthe FC out of the prestigious competition remains to be seen.

Tshimuthe's way to the quarter-final round went via Thengwe Flying Peace, whom they managed to beat 5-4 at the same venue last Saturday. The winner was determined through a penalty shootout as the score was 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Freedom Birds will pin their hopes on Rofhiwa Siala and Khuliso Mafanedza for goals.

Khubvi Dangerous Darkies are gearing up for a tricky hurdle. They will try their luck against Berea FC. Dangerous Darkies are lucky to have reached the quarter-final stage of the competition. They were down and out throughout the game when they narrowly beat Musasenda Big Five 1-0 last Sunday. Berea managed to beat Tshandama Try Together 2-0 to secure a place in the last-8 round.

The other game expected to provide maximum entertainment will be between Zwaloni FC and Madridtas FC. Zwaloni will be lucky if by chance they do not concede more than three goals in the game. Madridtas have been winning everything at stake ever since they were crowned the champions of the Vhembe Super Cup at the Thohoyandou Stadium early last month. Madridtas beat Makonde Home Defenders 2-0 to book a place in the quarter-final stage. Zwaloni shocked the local soccer fraternity when they beat Phandulaluvalo FC 4-3 last Saturday.

The last match will be between Matangari High Aims and Annel Real Vikings. The champions of the tournament will take home a whopping R10 000.
