The highly anticipated semi-final and final matches of the Nwali Soccer Tournament will take place at the Khubvi Benjie's Grounds on Saturday. Originally scheduled for Friday, 16 June, the tournament was postponed to accommodate the promotional play-off matches of three Safa Vhembe league contenders: Berea FC, Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers, and Mukula Young Santos.
The four teams that have reached the semi-finals are Berea FC, Tshimuthe FC, Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers, and Mukula Young Santos. The first semi-final will feature Mukula Young Santos against Tshimuthe FC, scheduled to kick off at 09:00.
Tshimuthe FC advanced to the semi-final stage after narrowly defeating Rockers FC 1-0 in their quarter-final match at the same venue last Sunday. Tshimuthe will face another tough challenge against Santos, who displayed an impressive performance in their quarter-final match against United Artists. Despite competing in a higher division, United Artists suffered a crushing 3-1 defeat.
Tshimuthe's defenders will face a daunting task in stopping Santos' strikers, including Fhulufhedzani Ramudzuli, Thanyani Bohwana, and team captain Vhahangwele Tshifhango.
The second semi-final match, scheduled to begin at 11:00, will be contested between Berea FC and Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers. Peace Makers surprised many with a 2-0 victory over Vondwe XI Bullets in their quarter-final match last Saturday. Berea FC secured their place in the semi-finals by defeating Nweli Stone Breakers 3-0.
Following the final match, a prize-giving ceremony will be held at the grounds. The champions will receive R10 000, a floating trophy, gold medals, and a soccer ball. The runners-up will be awarded R7 000, a soccer ball, and silver medals. The third-placed team will receive R4 000, a soccer ball, and bronze medals, while the fourth-placed team will be presented with R3 000.
