The Munyamela Soccer Tournament match between Makwarani Frelimo Boys and Muhuyu XI Experience, which was played at the Muhuyu grounds on Sunday, ended in chaos. The score was 2-2 when the situation became volatile.
As if they were going to bury their opponents alive, XI Experience scored two early goals, thereby causing a lot of frustration for the defence of Frelimo Boys. Their opening goal came in the 7th minute. Ndivhuwo Nengovhela scored from the corner kick spot.
The home side continued to dictate the terms, with Frelimo Boys running for cover. It was in the 18th minute that XI Experience increased the margin. Their overlapping midfielder, Avhatendi Nyatheli, beat the offside trap and finally unleashed from close range.
Ronald Rambuwani of Experience was booked for a late tackle on Norman Ratshilumela towards the end of the first half.
Frelimo Boys came back strongly in the last half. Their striker, Maanda Mmbadi, was brought down within the penalty box. It was a clear penalty, which Christopher Neluonde converted from the white spot.
Frelimo Boys replaced Christopher Neluonde with Lufuno Nyadzani. Their equalizing goal came in the 70th minute. Maanda Mmbadi forced his way through the defence of Experience and beat the stranded keeper, Aifheli Sikhomo, with a volley.
Walter Munzhedzi of XI Experience was brought down by Lufuno Nyadzani two minutes before the end of the game. Although the referee blew the whistle and warned Nyadzani with a card, Munzhedzi felt that it was not enough and he retaliated with a smack in Nyadzani's face.
What followed thereafter was a fistfight between the two. The situation took an ugly turn when the other players, fans and officials of both teams joined the struggle. Nyadzani was seriously injured during the mayhem. Realizing that the situation was no longer salvageable, the referee blew the final whistle.
