The future is looking promising for 27-year-old Chene Buys from Louis Trichardt, who has been selected as a semi-finalist in the Miss Limpopo 2024 pageant.
Chene explains that the Miss Limpopo pageant employs a "beauty with brains and purpose" platform to empower young women to grow and develop themselves while making a positive impact in their communities. She said, "I told myself to put in the extra effort and be dedicated, so that I could also be selected as a finalist and make my community proud. Many beauty pageants are held today, and unfortunately, the crowning ceremony often marks the end of the experience. However, the Miss Limpopo pageant is different. It provides a platform that aims to instil a spirit of giving back and uplifting communities as a way of life."
Chene, a talented self-taught makeup artist, has a strong passion for modelling. She began her modelling journey during her primary school days but took a break from it in secondary school because of limited opportunities.
Currently employed as a Theatre Stock Controller at Zoutpansberg Private Hospital in Louis Trichardt, she is excited about her achievements so far and has her sights set on the crown. She said, "The contest has many contributors to its brilliance and ingenuity, and there is a large creative team behind the success of Miss Limpopo. As a contestant, I have become one of many stars in the semi-finalist group."
Through this platform, Chene aims to empower both young women and men through various programmes, advocating for healthy living and positive behaviour.
The Miss Limpopo 2024 pageant is scheduled to take place at Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane on 25 November.
