Venrap artist Chief Ndibu, born Ndivhudzannyi Nemaungani, has spent more than 13 years building his music career while representing his home village of Maungani in Limpopo.
Known locally as Chief Ndibu Muchivo, he says his journey into music began as a way to create a voice for his community. He started producing his own tracks at home through his independent platform, Chief Ndibu Productions.
His sound is rooted in Venrap, blending the Venda language with hip-hop rhythms and storytelling. Ndibu says his music focuses on resilience, growth and encouraging listeners to create opportunities for themselves.
Outside music, he is also an entrepreneur who runs a scrapyard and car-repair business. He says balancing business and music has shaped his discipline and professional approach to the industry.
Collaboration is also central to his artistic identity. His recent work with Easy SA on the song Liatsha La Kovhela marks an important milestone in his career and showcases his growth in production and vocal arrangement.
Like many independent artists, Ndibu says resources and visibility remain major challenges, especially when managing music production and promotion independently. Despite this, he says strong support from fans in Thohoyandou and surrounding communities continues to motivate him as he works to take Venrap to wider audiences while mentoring young artists from his village.
