Rhumba fans, particularly followers of Marko Clement Simbine — better known as Mu Africa Marko — and The More Fire Big Machine Band, are in for an early Christmas with the release of his new single, Tshikolo.
The chart-topping track followed his hugely successful album Takalani, released in March 2025. It was recorded at Mphagani Studio in Muledani, with Mu Africa Marko backed by his family band. Mmbangiseni Mphaga, Joshua Simbine and Willard Simbine provided backing vocals, while Mphaga also handled production.
Mu Africa Marko said the single's release whad been prompted by fan demand. "I have a lot of material for a new album, which I had planned for the new year, but fans have been pestering me. I finally bowed to pressure. Tshikolo is a masterpiece and it will not give music lovers any peace this Christmas — they will be dancing throughout," he said.
Beyond its infectious beats, the track carries an important message for young people. "This is about education. I am urging the youth to focus on their school work. They should work hard and pass with flying colours, so that they won't face challenges registering or getting bursaries at colleges and universities," he explained.
Since its release, Tshikolo has been selling well, with Mu Africa Marko reporting that the single is "selling like hot cakes." Fans can expect the track to dominate festive playlists, blending high-energy rhythms with a positive message.
