Xitsonga traditional musician CIC Makaveli's latest album, titled Sirha ra Vahanyi (The Grave of the Living), is a dance-floor sensation for those who love to move to the beat. The album, released on Sunday, 14 May, has already received an overwhelming response, leaving music lovers craving more.

Last year, the multilingual musician from Mdabula Mbhalati village in Malamulele released his fifth album, titled Ndyelo (Food Plate), packed with 12 tracks, which also garnered positive reaction from his supporters.

His latest offering consists of 13 captivating tracks, each meticulously crafted to transport listeners on a soul-stirring musical journey. "This album has received tremendous support and many people are thoroughly enjoying it. Since its release, I have been receiving calls and messages from fans expressing their excitement. They say it is even better than my previous successful albums. I think this says a lot," says CIC Makaveli.

The songs that really seem to be resonating with his fans include the title track, Sirha ra Vahanyi, and Ntshava, although, he says, many find singling out a favourite hard as each tune possesses its own unique charm. The album sheds light on everyday life and current issues. "The lyrics provide guidance and lessons on how to navigate certain situations in life. Whether it's celebrating joyful moments or finding solace in difficult times," he said.

CIC Makaveli draws inspiration from Xitsonga musicians such as Solly Makamu and the late Xitsonga music legend Matshwa Bemuda. His music is available on YouTube or he can be followed on Facebook (CIC Makaveli). For album sales or bookings, call 065 802 2991 or 079 787 8359.
