Claudina Ramulondi, known as Clauds in music circles, released her latest single, Complicated, on Friday, 14 February—perfectly timed for the month of love. The multi-award-winning singer and songwriter collaborated with Mizo Phyll, the "King of VenRap," on a track that delves into the complexities of relationships, particularly the challenges of a third party's involvement.
Clauds, who has already made a name for herself in the industry, said Complicated was inspired by real-life relationship dynamics. "Many people complicate their lives by allowing a third party into their space, which only brings unnecessary challenges. This song encourages anyone in such a situation to recognise it for what it is and take the necessary step of leaving," she said.
Since its release, Complicated has received an overwhelmingly positive response. "One of the most touching comments I received was from a fan who said this was the collaboration they had been waiting for," she said.
Clauds has released two albums—Identity (2020) and Tshanduko (2023). In 2024, her song Rivhana Vhau won Song of the Year on Phalaphala FM and Vhembe FM. She also won Best Tshivenda Afro-Soul Song at the Tshivenda Music Awards.
At the 2021 Limpopo Music Awards, she won Best Newcomer, Best Afropop, and Best Song of the Year. She has also received nominations at the Crown Gospel and SATMA Awards.
Born in Ha-Mashamba village, Clauds' musical journey began at age 11, singing in her school choir and church. She started professionally in 2019 after discovering her purpose through prayer. Initially focused on gospel, she transitioned to Afro-pop following guidance from her pastor, Apostle Joseph Sithole. "My greatest inspiration was God's confirmation, along with support from family and friends," she said.
