Popular Tshivenda comedian SABC Livhu has made the headlines again, but not for the right reasons. He was arrested on Tuesday and was charged with assaulting his wife.
SABC Livhu, whose real name is Livhuwani Madadzhe, appeared in court on Wednesday morning. He was released after bail was set at R1 000.
This is not the first time Madadzhe's wife, Lindelani Nengovhela, has accused him of mistreating her. In August last year, she posted on social media platforms that he had abused her, even accusing him of using a sugar cane to beat her on the buttocks. She accused him of emotional abuse and of using the money meant for her studies for himself.
The couple had subsequently reconciled, and the dust had apparently settled. Things seemingly changed for the worse again, and she filed assault charges with the police. Livhu was arrested on Tuesday and had to spend the night in custody.
