Lwamondo Secondary School was once a leading school that produced good results in the village.
In 2013, the school managed to score a 100% pass rate in Grade 12. Last year, they managed to score more than 85%, but things are getting worse this year. The second quarter's examination has turned out to be one of the worst, with performances of learners at an all-time low.
Worried about the situation and in a bid to turn it around, the SGB roped in other interested parties such as the civic, led by Mr Khathutshelo Ramukosi, ward councillor Meltah Rasendedza, the traditional leadership, led by Khotsimunene Muvhango Nelwamondo, among others, and motivated the learners.
During an event held at the school on Monday, four top learners received awards for their hard work. SGB chairperson Mr Matamba Mamuremi said they were informed by the national guideline, which dictates that they do an analysis of results each quarter. "We visited the school and we were shocked by the bad performances by the learners. We could not sit down as if nothing was happening."
Principal Mr Tshimangadzo Tshubwana said they had roped in the other stakeholders after identifying the challenges experienced by learners.
