Emotions ran high when mourners bade farewell to the respected community leader, Mr James Rasimphi (96), who was laid to rest at Masia graveyard on Saturday.
He died on 19 January, after a long illness. He was described by all as a very humble and dedicated community builder and respected elder. Mourners described him as a man of humour, respectful and friendly.
The deceased's son, Mr Abby Rasimphi, said his father's death had left a big void in the family. "He was everything to us and he was our main source of inspiration," he said. He added that Mr Rasimphi was a caring father who, despite being illiterate, made sure that his children and the family were properly looked after and educated.
Chief Livhuwani Matsila said that the passing away of Rasimphi was also a loss to the community and urged the family to be united. Mr Rasimphi is survived by two wives, 16 children and 71 grandchildren.
