Businesspeople and farmers in Tshamutumbu and surrounding villages remain in shock about the brutal killing of a local businessman.
The victim, Mr Aziz Akash (48), who owned a general dealer in the village, was fatally shot by two unknown armed men. The attack occurred at his store on Friday, 5 December, at around 19:00.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear and are under police investigation.
Local business leader Mr Philemon Munyai, chairperson of the Madimbo Business Forum, said the incident had shocked and traumatised the business community. "The incident caught us off guard. As a business community, we are deeply concerned about such acts. We will hold an urgent meeting this week, addressed by the police district commissioner and a social worker, with security as the top agenda item. We are working closely with the police, and together we will combat this criminality," he said.
Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that a murder case had been opened and that a manhunt for the two suspects was underway. "We responded to a complaint of a shooting and found the victim lying on the floor inside the shop with multiple gunshot wounds. He was certified dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services. Preliminary investigations suggest the victim was ambushed by two unknown male suspects. The motive is not yet known, and the suspects fled immediately after the shooting," he said.
At the time of going to press, one suspect, 48-year-old Godfrey Singo from Tshikhudini village, had been arrested in connection with the murder. He appeared in the Masisi Court on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, and his case was postponed to 14 January 2026 for further investigation.
