Ramantsha will be the place to be for soccer lovers this weekend, when 32 of the top teams affiliated with Safa Vhembe and the Makhado Local Football Association battle it out in the second edition of the Talelani Liguluvhele Easter Tournament.
The tournament kicks off on Thursday, 18 April, and runs until Friday, 26 April. Matches will be played at two venues: Skomboys grounds and Blackpool grounds.
Chairperson of the tournament, Mr Rendani Mutheiwana, said the overall winners would walk away with R50,000 in prize money, a floating trophy, a ball, a new soccer kit and gold medals. The runners-up will receive R20,000, a ball, a soccer kit and silver medals. The two semi-final losers will each receive R7,000.
He added that individual awards would also be presented for achievements such as top goal scorer and best young player of the tournament.
As a curtain-raiser to the final, several PSL legends will take to the field in an exhibition match against a team of local legends. Among those expected to play are Happy Jele, Tshepo Masilela, Morgan Gould and Reneilwe Letsholonyane.
The 32 teams competing in the tournament are Manavhela Black Aces, Midoroni United, Midoroni Real Hearts, Maebane Soccer Academy, Makhitha Iyarunga, Muduluni Young Chiefs, Madodonga United, Ravele Highlanders, Mubva All Stars, Daniel Mubva FC, Ramantsha Blackpool, Gogobole Bucs, Gogobole Home Defenders, Tshiozwi Mates, Madombidzha Congo XI, Madombidzha Arsenal, Madombidzha Western Stars, Tshikhwani Stone Breakers, Magau United, SM United Brothers, Bokisi Scientist, Mashamba Soccer Academy, Samsa FC, Univen FC, Rabali Pull Together, Matanda Rockers, Thohoyandou Bayen, Benny's Care, Eagles United, Mamaila Happy Boys, Madabani Green Mambas and Muraleni United.
