Daniel Munyai gets admitted as advocate

Mr Daniel Munyai from Vyeboom in the Ha-Masia area was admitted as advocate by the Polokwane High Court on Friday, 11 August.

Mr Daniel Munyai from Vyeboom in the Ha-Masia area was admitted as advocate by the Polokwane High Court on Friday, 11 August.

Munyai has been working at the corporate services department at the Makhado Municipality since 2010. He said he had never imagined he would end up working in the legal fraternity. From a young age, he had always wanted to become an engineer. "After completing my matric, my dreams changed. I had to choose the second-best career, but completing my LLB degree was always a priority and I studied day and night. I took my books with me to work and even studied during lunchtime," he said.

Munyai comes from a poor background. This, he said, made him realise that, without hard work, dedication, enthusiasm, and a qualification, life was always going to be hard. "During my journey, I realised that there was just so much injustice in the world. Our people are very little informed on how the law works and the type of resources at their disposal," he said.

About his admittance as advocate, he said: "I am super excited! I have achieved the most important goal of my life, and now I can plan my way forward in my career. My dream is to establish my own law practice."

Munyai said he wanted to set the example to his friends, colleagues and the young people of the Vhembe District that being born into a poor family should not limit one's dreams and ambitions. "Things were difficult back then when I was growing up in the village. I always told myself that I would realise my dream one day, and here I am now," he said.
