Dakalo "Dairo" Nwanamidwa steered his team, Mpheni Home Defenders, to victory when they beat Madombidzha Western Stars at Madombidzha on Sunday. Home Defenders are the current log leaders of Stream E of the MMK Administrators league.
Defenders took the game to their opponents from the onset, giving the defenders of Stars no time to breathe. It was not a surprise to see Defenders score their first goal in the 24th minute. Dairo Nwanamidwa unleashed a half volley from the edge of the box and the keeper of Stars, Mpho Muligwe, watched helplessly as the ball landed at the back of the net.
Thabelo Tharini of Stars should have equalised, but his shot was palmed away by Emmanuel Ngwana, the keeper of Defenders. Thabo Matuba then dished a pre-cooked pass to Nwanamidwa, who moved three steps forward before unleashing a half volley to complete his brace. The half-time score was 2-0 in favour of Defenders.
Early in the second half, Stars abused countless scoring opportunities. Daniel Mukosi unleashed prematurely, instead of moving closer towards the keeper.
Stars made three replacements in the match. They introduced Hector Mukwevho, Doctor Ratshibayi and Tshimangadzo Masala for Gift Huma, Given Mulaudzi and Rudzani Lishavha respectively. The replacements did not change the complexion of the game, as Defenders continued to fight like a team possessed.
