Vhembe's music fraternity and fans are mourning the death of the well-known reggae artist, Zwiito Takalani (42), known as "Takzit" from Mukula.
Takzit died in the Polokwane MediClinic on Saturday, 12 June, after a short illness. Before his death he also worked as a police officer at OR Tambo Airport in Gauteng.
His many friends and fans will remember him for his humbleness and selflessness - always confident, with a smile on his face - and the way he gave himself and his time to inspire and motivate the youth in the community.
Takzit's manager, Ms Shonisani Nemanashi, said that his death was a great loss to the South African music industry. "His music was unique. He was a very creative artist whose talents will be missed. We have learnt a lot from him. His contribution to music will live on and will continue to be enjoyed," she said.
Ms Gumani Takalani, Takzit's sister, said that the family was still shaken by his untimely death. "He was such a jovial person who never showed his worries and troubles. We will miss him very much."
Mr Humbulani Ramagwedzha from the Vhembe Music Association echoed the shock over Takzit's death. "We are greatly saddened by his death. It came so suddenly, and at a time when his contribution to the music industry was really needed. He was a torch-bearer in his genre and can never be replaced," he said.
Takzit was buried on Wednesday, 16 June, at Mukula.
