Mpheni Home Defenders are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for their ABC Motsepe promotional play-off match.
Defenders completed their league programme on top of Stream A last Saturday when they beat Winners Park 2-1. They are now scheduled to play against the Stream B champions, The Dolphins, to determine which team will represent the province in the national promotional play-offs.
Although the teams had played their last league matches early last week, the league is still to announce the date on which the match will be played. What is clear is that the match will be played at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
According to Defenders' coach, Mr Vhutshilo Phuravhathu, his team has never stopped training. "The boys are doing their best, and I am impressed with their performance," he said. He added that their aim was to use the promotional play-off matches as their stepping stone to the national ABC Motsepe league.
Phuravhathu thanked the team's supporters for all their messages of support. "Just getting to the promotional play-off matches has made a difference to the boys in terms of confidence and motivation," he added.
The head coach of The Dolphins FC, Mr Joel Mongalo, admitted this week that he did not know much about their opposition. He said that they were leaving no stone unturned in their preparations to avoid a repeat of what had happened last year. Mongalo appealed to local football lovers to rally behind the team during the play-offs.
