The premier of Limpopo, Mr Stan Mathabatha, said people should say no to racism, sexism and all forms of intolerance.
Speaking to a large crowd during the Human Rights Day celebrations at Phalama in Thengwe, Mathabatha said that the people who gave their lives for the freedom and democracy of the country would be happy with the South Africa of today and the country's human rights record. He added that the citizens must guard against the abuse of all human rights and respect the rights of others.
He slammed the destruction of property during service delivery protests, referring to the burning of clinics, government building, schools and vehicles. The theme of this year's celebrations was Racism: not in my name.
King Toni Mphephu Ramabulana said he was very happy to celebrate the day with the communities and senior leaders of the government. He stated that, since the dawn of democracy, the life of local communities had changed for the better.
