Masemola Diarora deposited a full compliment of points into their league account last weekend. They beat Phalaborwa Real Rovers 2-0 in their Vodacom Promotional League match at the Makwarela Stadium on Saturday.

The result was not a true reflection of the match as Real Rovers were chasing the action from the first whistle to the bitter end. The visitors from Baphalaborwa made their defenders work overtime by committing silly mistakes at the centre of the pitch.

Diarora threatened to score in the fifth minute. Petros Duduma, who was later replaced with Mushe Mafadza, won a loose ball from what looked like an offside position and panicked before unleashing a volley that went far wide.

His team mate, Mulalo Nkhumeleni, was also unlucky nine minutes later.

The diminutive referee, Christopher Mugeri, flashed the first yellow card in the 24th minute. Matome Machete of Real Rovers tackled Rendani Ndou the rough way and Mugeri took no time in producing yellow.

Diarora opened their account in the 36th minute. They put unlimited pressure on the defence of Real Rovers and ultimately a defender of Rovers, Jeffrey Khoza, tapped the ball back into his own net while trying to clear. The struggle continued, with Real Rovers running for cover most of the time.

Rovers lost Promise Mamekwane through a knee injury and he was replaced with Roster Mabuye. Diarora scored the second goal three minutes before break. Mmapheladi Duba beat the offside trap and scored easily. As if they were leading, Rovers were defending throughout the last stanza.
