Matsila Primary School, a school in the rural Masia region, officially received two blocks of mobile classrooms on Friday, 8 September. The classrooms were donated by the Masia Development Agency, an agency of the Masia Traditional Council.

The donation followed a visit by Thovhele Nthumeni Masia to the school, where he saw their plight. According to Masia, the school is older than 50 years but had not yet benefited from the government's school infrastructure rollout. "The existing classrooms are old and dilapidated, and they are not conducive to proper learning and teaching. The situation at the school looks dire," he said.

Because of the urgency of the situation, the Masia Development Agency decided to allocate funds for the mobile classrooms. Masia called on other institutions and former learners of the school to contribute as well to support those responsible for educating their children.

The principal of Matsila Primary, Ms. Livhuwani Magale, expressed her delight that her learners could now continue their education in a more conducive environment. She expressed hope that this would motivate them to work harder. "We receive this unexpected-yet-welcome contribution from Thovhele Masia and his council with humility. We have been sharing our story with anyone who cared to listen but without any progress. Combined with the government's commitment to building toilets at the school, the future looks brighter for us," said Magale during the handover of the classrooms.

The two blocks of mobile classrooms can collectively accommodate up to 100 learners.
