Dipeni FC collected maximum points when they beat Rambuda Young Fighters 3-1 in a Safa Vhembe MMK Administrators League match at Tshitavha on Sunday.
The head coach of Dipeni, Mr Emmanuel Mutwanamba, said that his players wanted to win the league. "We played with a good competitive team with a desire to win."
Mutwanamba explained that his substitutions late in the game had turned the match on its head. "We played with three behind in defence, and then we put one in the middle of the park because the opponent had four attackers. We needed to minimise that threat."
Rambuda Young Fighters' coach, Mr Humbelani Mukhathi, believes that his players lacked confidence in front of the goalbox. He believes they should have come away with something from the game. "I thought we had a good second part of the first half. We looked quite convincing and settled. We were playing in a way that was showing that what we were doing at training is starting to become visible," Mukhathi said.
"Congratulations to Dipeni! It was quite a nice match, but sometimes very tactical."
Dipeni were first to open their account via Emmanuel Makhura. Fighters equalised through Tshinadzo Mbedzi, when he received good pass Rofhiwa Nethononda. Their celebration was cut short when Tsimbe Thomoli scored his team's second goal to make the half-time score 2-1 in favour of Dipeni.
Navhidzo Mbulaheni of Fighters scored an own goal late in the match.
