The result was not a true reflection of the game as it was characterised with wasted chances on the part of the Leopards' strikers. The first player to cause an upset was Mulondo Sikhwivhilu. He missed a ball from the edge of the box after receiving a neat pass from Papi Gama.
Richard Lishivha dribbled past a number of defenders in a row and hesitated for too long to release before he was dispossessed. The home side received a blow when their Mozambican defender, Fernando Matola sustained an injury.
He was replaced with Helder Muinga. The midfielder of Wanderers, Samuel Tabane was booked by referee Morne Daniels for a foul on Wonder Nhleko six minutes before break. The Durban side effected the first change to their original team by introducing Mduduzi Mdladla for Kagiso Pohojane.
Although the fans started to shout at the Leopards technical staff instructing them to replace Richard Lishivha with Magic Ratshivhadelo, there was nobody to listen to their please. They instead brought on Japhta Mabosho for Mulondo Sikhivhilu.
Magic Ratshivhadelo was later given time display his skills. He came on at the expense of Wonder Nhleko. Ratshivhadelo was booked for an infringement with the Wonderers keeper three minutes after his introduction. The only time Wanderers came close to scoring was when Welcome Mazibuko released a ground cutter from outside the box towards the end of the game.
