Emerging artist Nkateko Shihambi, known by his stage name DJ Aka Lowbass from Waterval, is carving out a distinct niche for himself by creating the sgidongo style, a sub-genre of amapiano. The 18-year-old producer and DJ recently released his second EP, titled "Perc Hub Series," featuring three songs that have kept his fans' heads bopping since its release last month.

DJ Aka Lowbass delighted his fans with this EP, which serves as a preview to his upcoming third album titled, "Sgidongo' verse," currently in the works. His music is characterised by energetic sbujwa beats and elements of private-school piano.

"I am introducing my fans to my own style as I want to make a mark in the industry, and I am happy with the response from my fans. My EP is gaining more views on both YouTube and Spotify, which is exceptional. I am happy that I am showcasing my evolving style and commitment to pushing musical boundaries," he said.

DJ Aka Lowbass began his musical journey at a young age, playing drums at church, which fuelled his love of music. "I was inspired by Mdu, aka TRP, a pioneering amapiano producer. His style inspired me to create something unique in the music circle, which continues to captivate my fans with my fresh take on amapiano. I promise more exciting music to come from me," he said.

So far, DJ Aka Lowbass has produced two EPs and two albums, along with numerous tracks. He also produces music for other artists, showcasing his versatility and influence in the industry.
