DJ Prosper, born Madi Gundo, is steadily emerging from the production booth to claim his space at the forefront of the Venda music scene. Known for crafting the sound behind several notable artists, Prosper has built a reputation as a skilled recording producer, DJ and musical craftsman whose work reflects a deep understanding of rhythm and emotion. His passion for music stems from his belief that sound is a universal language capable of connecting audiences beyond borders.
After years of contributing quietly behind the scenes, Prosper has stepped into the spotlight with his own single, titled Danger. The track, which features Mizo Phyll, is set for release on 14 November, together with a music video. Danger pays tribute to a woman's confidence, presence and style. The collaboration also reflects Prosper's gratitude to Mizo Phyll, whom he describes as instrumental in recognising and supporting his talent early on.
Throughout his production journey, Prosper has worked with artists such as King Salah, Fortunator, Jr Player, Asa Tee, VP Talking, Eazy SA and Dalova. These collaborations sharpened his creativity and taught him the importance of trust and artistic chemistry. He says producing for others requires focusing on what serves the artist, while working on his own material allows him to express a more personal side of his musical identity.
In the studio, Prosper is known to be experimental and lively. He often plays instruments and develops melodies on the spot, and he writes lyrics when required. This spontaneity creates an environment where artists feel free and energised.
Looking ahead, Prosper plans to perform independently as a DJ and join live band settings, drawing on his ability to play multiple instruments. More singles and collaborative releases are expected in the coming months.
