The police in Limpopo have issued a stern warning to job seekers, cautioning them against falling victim to scams. This warning comes in response to numerous complaints from individuals who were duped into paying money in exchange for job opportunities within the SAPS.
According to Lt-Col Malesela Ledwaba, the provincial police spokesperson, scammers contact prospective applicants and demand payment through e-wallet and cash-send options, promising favourable outcomes in their psychometric assessments.
Ledwaba stated that complaints about these scams had been received from various parts of the province. "The management has launched investigations into these fraudulent schemes to apprehend the perpetrators," he added.
Maj-Gen Jan Scheepers, the acting provincial police commissioner, strongly condemned these scams. "Community members should be aware that our recruitment processes are transparent, merit-based, and do not involve any form of payment at any stage. We urge all victims who have been defrauded by these scammers to report to their nearest police stations and lay charges," he emphasised.
