Up-and-coming reggae artists from the Vhembe District will be hosting the Vhuthihi Live Music Festival at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre on Friday, 16 June.
The festival was initially scheduled to be held at the Florence Masakona Hall, but the venue was changed at the last minute after the municipality told the organisers that the hall was no longer available.
One of the organisers of the event, Mr Buka Mphaphuli, says the festival is part and parcel of commemorating Youth Day through live reggae and dancehall music on stage. Artists who are expected to perform at the festival include Ras Canly, Rofhiwa Nethwadzi, Fyah Prince, Sivhara Mulaudzi, Bashy Jah Bless, Burning Fire, Lutendo Nethwadzi, Khathu Nemapate, Takalani Mashau, Lutendo CJ Munyai, The Natty Lion, Ras Wailler, Rass Pee Khwalu, Ras Priest, Ras Tripple B, and many others.
Before the live reggae music festival, a special session will be held for novice musicians who want to learn how to play different music instruments. The session will be hosted by Buka Mphaphuli, aka Ras B, and MC Igwe.
