Damaged water filters have been given as the reason why taps have run dry in Louis Trichardt for the umpteenth time the last couple of weeks.
"Albasini water plant is not functional due to the damaged water filters at the Albasini water plant. The damaged filters have resulted in a shortage of water at Louis Trichardt town and Tshikota. The contractor is currently busy fixing the damaged filters and water supply will resume immediately after the repair is complete. Water tankers are busy supplying water at affected areas. We apologise for the inconvenience caused," reads a notice just issued by the Vhembe District Municipality.
What is not known is whether the "damaged water filters" are the reason why some residents have been without water for days now. One resident commented on Facebook this morning that today is the seventh day they did not have water in Douthwait Street. The latest development is but one of many setbacks continuously plaguing the struggling district municipality to keep the taps open and water flowing.
