GIYANI – Jomo Cosmos have booked a place in the finals of the South African Airways Supa 8 KO Competition. This follows their 1-0 victory over Dynamos Football Club in their semi-final match that was played at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday.

The visiting team approached the game aggressively, with the majority of their players displaying their rough skills. The situation was calmed down by the referee, Mr Ronney Marhule, who flashed three yellow cards in quick succession. The bulldozer defender of Dynamos, Gerald Raphahlela, was also booked for an infringement on Russel Nwafulira in the 15th minute. The pride of Mopani suffered a blow when their allrounder, Soul Mmethi, left the pitch on the stretcher. He was replaced with Lucas Maleka. Maleka combined well with Josias Macamo and the Zimbabwean international, Adam Ndlovu, at the forefront. Dynamos enjoyed more ball possession during the first half. They again lost another key player, Josias Macamo, through injury early in the last half.

Macamo was replaced by Thomas Ledingwane. The homeside effected the last change to their original team by bringing on Nkoko Camagu for the former Sundowns midfielder, Alex Bapela. Dynamos paid a heavy price for their defensive error.

Manuel Bucuane dispossessed the Dynamos marksman, Martin Carelse, and released a rocket that left goalkeeper, Aime Kitenge, flatfooted in the 70th minute. Bucuane was voted the man of the match and he went home with a cheque of R3 000.
