The cancellation of the game brought about a lot of friction between the management of the two teams. Dynamos insisted that they had done everything to ensure that the stadium met all the conditions that the stadium inspector of the league, Prof Ronnie Schloss, had put forward to them.
Schloss inspected the stadium in question a few days before the date of the match and gave Dynamos approval to stage the match, on condition that they improved certain aspects of the stadium including the goal posts, cutting of the grass and the markings.
While Dynamos argued that they had done everything expected by Prof Schloss, the coach of Ajax Cape Town, Mr Gordon Igesund, insisted that the venue was of a poor standard. Igesund told Mirror after the incident that he was shocked and disappointed by the behavior of the management of Dynamos.
The two clubs were summoned to appear before the league’s disciplinary committee last Thursday evening. The committee ruled that the match should be replayed at the Giyani Stadium with Dynamos liable for all costs involved with hosting the game as well as flying the Cape Town side to Limpopo and accommodating them for the duration of their stay. The match will be replayed on a date still to be decided by the league.
