Tshiozwi Dynamos paved their up the log when they beat the much-respected Maelula New Mates 3-2 in a Safa Vhembe SAB match, played at the Tshiozwi grounds on Sunday, 11 September.
Dynamos should have opened their account in the fifth minute when their striker, Aluwani Nedzamba, dribbled past two Mates defenders in a row, but the keeper, Mushe Madilonga, saved the ball. A little later, Vhutshilo Phaswana of New Mates shot wide, with only the keeper to beat.
Dynamos came close to scoring in the 24th minute, when Alugumi Mamugudubi's half-volley missed the target by inches. Mates opened the scoreline when Livhuwani Makhomu received a neat pass from Tsumbedzo Khodobo and hit the target.
The celebrations were cut short as the home team“s striker, Aluwani Nedzamba, was brought down inside the penality area and the referee pointed to the white spot. Vhutshilo Mafunisa levelled the score to make the half-time score 1-1.
In the second half, Dynamos replaced Alugumi Mamugudubi with Mpho Netshiendeulu. Mates responded by effecting two changes to their original line-up.They introduced Rudzani Khameli and Mushe Matibe for Lucious Matibe and Mulalo Munzhedzi respectively.
Dynamos put matters beyond doubt when they scored their second goal via Mashudu Nengovhela. Mates then tried everything within their reach in search of the equaliser, but in vain.
Mashudu Nengovhela completed his brace and scored a goal from long range. A defender of the home team, Vusi Mamburu hadled, the ball inside his penality area and the referee pointed to the white spot. Livhuwani Mukoma was on target with the shot, making the final score 3-2 in favour of Tshiozwi Dynamos.
