A 46-year-old taxi driver based at the Dzanani 1 taxi association, Mr Ndivhoniswani Mukosi, was allegedly shot dead by three men before they vanished with his taxi on Saturday night at Murunwa. The taxi was later found stuck at Maelula.
Members of the Nzhelele community are still shocked about the brutal murder of Mukosi and believe his death is related to taxi violence. "We regarded him as our pillar. He was always available to solve our problems," said a family member, Albert Neluvhada. He mentioned that it was difficult to understand why his cousin was killed. "He was a visionary man and the strategic thinker of the family's transport business," he said.
Mukosi was apparently driving along the Witvlag road when unknown gunmen approached him and shot him several times. His taxi was subsequently taken, said the spokesperson for the Siloam Police, W/O Edward Tharaga. He said that it was not known whether the assailants had been following him.
"Investigations continue and no one has been arrested yet," said Tharaga. He appealed to members of the community to furnish the police with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects. Tharaga extended his condolences to the bereaved family. He indicated that the community would sorely miss the good working relationship and support they had received from Mukosi.

The ring manager for the Dzanani 1 Taxi Association, Jerry Sikhala, said the organisation had lost a leader who could never be replaced. He said the organisation was saddened by Mukosi's untimely death. "He was such a good man and his inputs always made an impact in the organisation," he said.
