EFF accuses ANCYL of meddling with job seeker list

Adv Tshifhiwa Matodzi, the chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Vhembe, has accused the African National Congress (ANC) of persisting in unlawful practices and corruption, despite ongoing complaints from communities.

Adv Tshifhiwa Matodzi, the chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Vhembe, has accused the African National Congress (ANC) of persisting in unlawful practices and corruption, despite ongoing complaints from communities.

Matodzi alleges that the ANC claims to fight corruption yet continues to appoint its own comrades, fostering nepotism and corrupt activities. The EFF aims to challenge these practices and put an end to the corruption within the ANC.

Matodzi's reaction came after the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) submitted a list of 20 candidates for the Vhembe traffic learnership programme that surfaced on social media. The list features the names of five preferred ANC youth comrades for each of the four municipalities in the Vhembe District, along with their contact and identity numbers.

This occurred after the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety advertised 150 posts for the traffic learnership programme on 13 June this year.

The Department of Transport and Community Safety's spokesperson, Ms Tidimalo Chuene, distanced the department from the circulating lists, stating that the recruitment process adheres to regulations and is open to all eligible South Africans.

Chuene clarified that applicants were required to provide medical fitness certificates as traffic control demands physical fitness to perform the work effectively.

Mr Stephen Matjena, the head of the department, confirmed that applications for the traffic learnership programme had closed on 7 July, and the process was being conducted appropriately. He emphasised the importance of ensuring that the process remain transparent and free from external interference.

In response to the list, the ANC's provincial spokesperson, Mr. Jimmy Machaka, also distanced the party from it, disavowing any connection to the ANCYL candidates' preferences in the Vhembe District for the traffic learnership programme positions.
