The annual Musubi and Munyamela Soccer Challenge was officially launched during a ceremony at Muhuyu last Saturday.
The tournament, which caters to eight teams from the Vhembe area, will see several matches played on 26 and 27 December at the Muhuyu Grounds.
Mr Thifhelimbilu Mulibana, the tournament coordinator, expressed his gratitude to the sponsor for his support. "Despite the challenging economic conditions, we still have companies willing to share their resources and support sport," he said.
The sponsor, Mr Josia Munyamela, emphasised the importance of identifying future stars at the grassroots level. He urged club officials and players to avoid misconduct such as bribery and referee abuse, noting that such actions would not only tarnish the tournament's reputation but also harm the image of the sponsor.
The tournament champion will take home R5,500, a floating trophy, a soccer kit, and gold medals. The runners-up will receive R2,500, a soccer kit, and silver medals, while the teams finishing in third and fourth places will each receive R1,000.

The winners of these matches will advance to the semi-final and final rounds, scheduled for 27 December.
