Eight teams will battle it out in the NJM Nzhelele Soccer Tournament, which will be played on Saturday and Sunday at Rabali Stadium.
This year's champions will take home R50,000, two new soccer kits, a floating trophy and gold medals. The runners-up will receive R25,000, two new kits and silver medals. The two teams eliminated in the semi-finals will each take home R15,000 and a soccer kit. Four teams that lose in the first round will receive R10,000 each and a soccer kit.
The competition features eight teams from the Nzhelele region that finished in the top four positions of SAFA Vhembe Stream G1 and G2.
The tournament organiser, Mr Lucky Tshilimandila, stated that it was important to identify future stars' talent at grassroots level. He applauded the sponsors for helping to uncover the region's young talent and added that the young players should be proud of their skills.
"All eight teams have also been asked to select 25 poor families from their villages to receive food parcels, and 10 learners each will receive school shoes on 29 August at Rabali," he said.
