The deep rural communities in Masisi and surrounding villages will now be able to receive emergency medical rescue response services, such as the treatment and emergency transportation of critically ill and injured patients. This is due to the opening of the Masisi Emergency Medical Services (EMS) station.
Hundreds of people from communities around Masisi attended the official opening of Masisi EMS by the MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure, Mr Jerry Ndou, MEC for Health Dr Phophi Ramathuba and the Vhavenda King, Toni Mphephu Ramabulana, last Wednesday.
The buildings of the Masisi EMS were specifically constructed by the Department of Public Works in the province. Speaking during the opening of the station, MEC Ndou said that the user-friendly EMS is one of the priority programmes of the Department of Health in the province. Ndou also handed over several ambulances that will serve the rural communities in Mutale.
King Toni Mphephu Ramabulana said the opening of the Masisi station was part of the better services the government was delivering to the communities. He added that the communities should jealously protect the buildings from all forms of vandalism. "Even if people are angry about poor service delivery, they must not be tempted to burn these good buildings," he added.
Thovhele Mmbengeni Tshikundamalema thanked the government for remembering even the deep rural communities with better service delivery and said his subjects would report all forms of emergency transportation of critically ill and injured people.
