Two men have been arrested following a violent house robbery allegedly led by a woman’s ex-boyfriend in Matswale Phase 12, under the Musina policing area.

The incident occurred at about 02:30 on Monday, 27 April. A 41-year-old man, who was sleeping at his girlfriend’s home, reportedly heard noises outside the house. Three men then forced the door open and entered the room.

Police said the victim recognised one of the suspects as his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.

The suspects allegedly assaulted him with their fists. During the attack, one of them struck him with a sharp object, causing a head injury. The woman fled the house during the incident.

Police said the attackers robbed the victim of a cellphone valued at R5,000, Adidas sandals, an undisclosed amount of cash, a smart ID card and a bank card before fleeing on foot. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police launched a manhunt and arrested two suspects, aged 24 and 25, later the same day. They are expected to appear in the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 29 April, facing a charge of house robbery.
