The final matches of the Collins Sebola Group Cup Soccer Tournament took place last Wednesday (9th) at the Mabaleng Sports Grounds in Tshiozwi. The championship, organised by Mamu Community Development, featured eight teams in two categories: U/13 and U/15.
In the U/13 category, Ramantsha Blackpool emerged as the victors. To secure the trophy, they first had to overcome Hollywoodbets Mabaleng Development in the semi-finals. The match ended in a penalty shootout, with Ramantsha winning 5-4. They then faced Mubva All Stars in the final. Mubva's journey to the final involved a penalty shootout victory over Midoroni United, with the scoreline at 8-7. Ramantsha ultimately claimed the championship title by defeating Mubva 2-0 in the final match.
Turning to the U/15 category, Hollywoodbets Mabaleng Development claimed the trophy. They faced Ramantsha Blackpool in the semi-finals and secured a 2-1 victory. In the other semi-final, Midoroni United defeated Mubva All Stars 3-0. The final match between Hollywoodbets Mabaleng Development and Midoroni United ended in a 2-2 draw. The winner was determined through a penalty shootout, which Hollywoodbets Mabaleng Development won with a score of 3-2.
Mr Collins Sebola, the main sponsor of the event, expressed his admiration for the displayed talent and the substantial attendance of spectators at the matches. He stated, "We will expand this initiative to other areas to identify more talented young players."
Mr Jafter Mamugudubi, general secretary of Mamu Community Development, expressed gratitude to the Collins Sebola Group for entrusting them with the organisation of such an event.
