Mutsha Atlantic Stars came back from a 0-1 deficit and beat Tshakhuma Peace Lovers 2-1 in their Makhado LFA League match at the Tshakhuma Tshisimani grounds on Saturday.
As if they were going to give the visitors a free soccer lesson, Peace Lovers displayed entertaining football in the first 20 minutes. Their fighting spirit faded away with time, giving the visitors a good chance to regroup and organize themselves in the middle of the park.
Peace Lovers' solitary goal came in the 37th minute. Rofhiwa Netshikhudini beat a defender of Stars with pace and sent in a rocket from close range. The keeper of Stars, Tovhowani Mudau, could not reach the ball.
Atlantic Stars pushed forward even harder in their search for the equalizer, but the score remained 1-0 for the home side until the teams adjourned for half time.
Peace Lovers spent the better part of the second half chasing the action. At that stage, Stars were knocking on their door non-stop. Confusion and frustration increased for the home side after Stars introduced Ndivhuwo Mbedzi and Thabelo Ntshauba for Emmanuel Mudau and Nkhumbuleni Mukwevho respectively.
Stars found the equalising goal in the 64th minute. Their captain, Khonano Netshifhire, headed home, following a corner kick that was taken by Ntanganedzeni Mulaudzi. Peace Lovers started to blame one another for their own careless mistakes. Stars then scored their second goal through Vhusafheli Mutavhatsindi nine minutes before the final whistle.
