The opening matches of the Masawe U/15 Soccer Tournament will be staged at three different venues on Monday (26 June). The tournament was officially launched during a ceremony held at the Masawe Car Wash in Matatshe last Friday (16th).
This year's tournament will be the biggest in terms of the sponsorship amount and the number of participating teams. Thirty-two teams from around Vhembe will take part, and the champions will receive R5 000, a floating trophy, gold medals, 15 pairs of soccer boots, a soccer ball and a soccer kit. The runners-up will go home with R3 000, 15 pairs of soccer boots, silver medals, a soccer ball and a soccer kit. The third-placed side will be presented with a soccer kit, R1 500 and a soccer ball while the team in the fourth place will receive a soccer kit, R1 000 and a soccer ball. Consolation prizes will go to all the other teams as well as prizes for the best players and top goal scorer.
Some of the matches scheduled for Monday are Tshitereke Young Citizens vs Makhuvha Young Brothers, Vondwe Young Brothers vs Lavan Arsenal, Sticks Development vs Ngudza United Brothers, Garden City vs Makonde Home Defenders, Golden Boys vs Mukula Development, Vondwe Juventus vs Makhuvha Up the Ants, Domboni FC vs Tshaulu Sports Academy, Tshififi Development vs Mavhola Young Castle, Vhufuli Pull Together vs Ralies Stars, Makwarani Academy vs Masawe FC, Gooldville Young Tigers vs Shayandima Stars, Vhufuli Dangerous Scorpions vs Mighty Young Stars and Musasenda Big V vs Gondeni FC.
