Family United fined for assaulting referee

Heavy fines were imposed on guilty clubs during the Vhembe Regional League’s disciplinary committee hearing which was held at the league’s offices last Friday evening.

Heavy fines were imposed on guilty clubs during the Vhembe Regional League's disciplinary committee hearing which was held at the league's offices last Friday evening.

Musina Family United were the hardest hit during the meeting. They were fined R3 000 for assaulting a match official during their match against Vhulaudzi Rampama at the Tshikombani Stadium three weeks ago. To rub salt into Family United's wounds, another fine of R5 000 was imposed on them for bringing the league into disrepute and displaying some acts of violence during the game against Mukondeni Ratanang. The fines are payable within 30 days.

Vhulaudzi Rampama were found guilty of assaulting a match official and bringing the league into disrepute. The case relates to an incident which took place during their game against Alpha and Omega at Tshikombani Stadium. Rampama were ordered to pay R3 000 within 30 days.

Matika Football Club were found guilty of abandoning their league game against Tshiozwi Dynamos and were fined R3 000, half of which was suspended for 12 months.

Basani Arrow Chiefs were found guilty on a charge of abandonment of their game against Muziafera Blue Eagles. A fine of R3 000, half of which was suspended for 12 months, was imposed on them. They were also ordered to pay a fine of R500 for demonstrating acts of disrespect towards the disciplinary committee.

The committee found Matavhela Mighty Dribblers guilty of failure to pay a referee in their match against Lukau Hot Aces. They were ordered to pay a fine of R2 500 within 30 days. They also forfeited the points of the match to their opponents, Lukau Hot Aces.
