The tshingondo music scene is bracing itself for a shake-up with the release of a powerful new single by little-known artist Zwodangani Anikie Kwinda, better known as Faneli Muimbi.
She is no ordinary musician, but a multi-talented instrumentalist who plays, among others, the drums and guitar.
Born in Mabvete in the Niani area, Faneli began her career in 2012 as a backing vocalist for her husband, tshingondo maestro Bernard Tshibemuda. It comes as no surprise that she is now making such an impact in the industry. Her years of working in the background and gaining experience are clearly paying off.
Her debut single, Mana a Mutukana, was released in 2020, followed by Lufuno in 2021. Her first EP, Bugu nga Cover, came out in 2023. After taking a short break from the studio, she has returned with renewed energy, releasing her latest single, Wamashudu.
The single, recorded at Mphagane Studio in Muledane, was released on 2 October.
Her husband, producer and publicist Bernard Tshibemuda, praised her for her growth and dedication. "She has surpassed our expectations. The single is making waves and she has made a big name for herself. She is in top gear, and much is expected from her from now on. We're planning to release her full album before the end of the year," he said.
