The "King of VenRap," Mizo Phyll, in collaboration with The Capable Boyz and Gusba Banana, has released the Fantastik 4 EP, an eight-track project captivating audiences with its fusion of genres, rhythms, and distinct styles. Since its release on 8 November, the EP has quickly gained traction across streaming platforms.
Early last month, the first track from the Fantastik 4 EP, Zwo Di To Fhelavho (meaning "It Just Ended"), was released to an overwhelmingly positive response from thousands of fans. The song features Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, known affectionately as Makhadzi, alongside Phillip Masengane, aka Crosswavee.
The collaboration brings together Mizo Phyll (born Livhuwani Ratshiungo), The Capable Boyz (Rudzambilu Netsianda and Masshau Ravele), and Gusba Banana (Gundo Masakona). The EP highlights Mizo Phyll's relaxed lyrical flow, The Capable Boyz's vibrant energy, and Gusba Banana's smooth, melodic touch, creating a diverse musical journey that celebrates both individuality and unity.
"We're thrilled to share this project with our fans. We wanted to create something that highlights our unity and diversity as artists. Each of us brings a unique style, but we're united by our passion for music and a drive to push boundaries," said Mizo Phyll.
The Fantastik 4 EP seamlessly blends piano, hip-hop, and Afro-fusion elements, allowing each artist's voice and style to shine. Lyrically, the tracks offer a range of perspectives: Mizo Phyll's storytelling shines in Storyteller, The Capable Boyz bring a carefree vibe in Vibes, and Gusba Banana adds emotional depth and introspection with his smooth lyricism.
The EP was born from a shared vision to create something distinctive and impactful. "We wanted to go beyond just a compilation and really experiment. It was about creating something new, unique, and unified," said Gusba Banana.
The Capable Boyz, known individually as DJ Papi Ricco and Drubabgo, reflected on the collaborative process: "We had to learn to trust each other's instincts and ideas. We'd discuss, share thoughts, and work together to find a middle ground that suited everyone."
