Vhembe Tron will host Ndiitwani Shooting Stars at the Tshakhuma Malaria Grounds on Saturday in a SAFA Vhembe Regional League match that is likely to determine the champions of Stream D.
Shooting Stars and Tron are the main title contenders. The Stars currently lead the stream with 100 points, 10 ahead of Vhembe Tron.
Unlike Tron, who have four matches remaining before the end of the season, Shooting Stars have only three fixtures left to complete their league programme. Should they beat Tron on Saturday, Shooting Stars will be crowned Stream D champions.
Tron's head coach, Mashudu "Coolio" Ndou, said he was not prepared to give up the fight as long as his team still had a chance of winning the league. He warned Shooting Stars not to expect an easy victory on Saturday.
Tron put their promotion hopes in jeopardy when they dropped two vital points in the matches they played last weekend. They narrowly beat Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers 1-0 on Saturday before being held to a 3-3 draw by SMSA FC the following day.
The mood is high in the Shooting Stars camp after they collected six points from their two matches last weekend. They beat Dzwerani United Brothers 2-0 at the Dzwerani Grounds on Saturday and followed that up with a 4-0 victory over Malonga United at the Ndiitwani Grounds on Sunday.
Shooting Stars' head coach, Benjamin Mhlaba, is a vastly experienced mentor. Vhembe Tron will pin their hopes on Rinae Rambau, Prince Sebola and Remaketse Mnisi for goals. Mnisi scored a brace in Sunday's 3-3 draw against SMSA FC.
