Ms Mishumo Thanyani Madaba, one of the top 22 finalists in the Mrs Universe Africa 2023, says she did not enter the pageant for fun. The Dlamini Soweto-born lass, whose other roots are in Shayandima in Thohoyandou, says she wants to make an impact and touch people's lives in a positive way. Through her organisation, the Mishumo Madaba Foundation, she also aims to raise awareness and help women realise and have hope in the knowing that, if she can do it, they too can do it.

This beautiful businesswoman has been in the construction, beauty and wellness fields for over a decade. She is also the owner of Tsiko Beauty Spa, which has done business with her reputable local clients, as well as some quite well-known clients, including celebrities from TV soapie Muvhango, and Drum Magazine, who have contributed to her brand.

"As a businesswoman in construction and the beauty and wellness space, and as a philanthropist, my journey on the Mrs Universe Africa platform will inspire many girls and women out there, as I share with them what I am passionate about. I am passionate about touching lives and hearts to protect the little girl mentally, physically, and emotionally through the Mishumo Madaba Foundation," she says.

Madaba also fights for the economic empowerment of minorities and the problems that small and medium businesses in this country are facing that keep them from growing into big businesses.

The final takes place at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City on 9 July. Support Madaba by voting online for contestant student number 20 on Webticket, Pick 'n Pay or Boxer. Or follow her on the Mrs Universe Africa Instagram (@mrsuniverseafrica), Facebook or her personal Instagram page (@mishumo.m).

"We are also required to collect R10 000. This amount will be donated to the charity Dorah's Ark, a home for children in Roodepoort, towards autism and towards women affected by gender-based violence. Those who want to support my journey through sponsorship and partnership, please contact me on 083 340 4584," she said.
