The second batch of opening matches in the Lumveleni Pre-season Soccer Tournament will be played at the Ngudza Vultures Grounds this weekend. The tournament was officially launched during a ceremony at the Lumveleni Restaurant on Sunday, 13 July.
Four matches will be played on Saturday, with another four scheduled for Sunday. Kwena FC and Maranzhe Hungry Lions will be the first teams to take to the pitch on Saturday morning. Vyeboom Marikana will take on Mulodi Freedom Birds in the second fixture, scheduled to kick off at 11:00.
The match expected to produce fireworks is the clash between Manamani Blue Birds and Thohoyandou Manchester Flying Stars. Both Blue Birds and Flying Stars narrowly missed out on promotional playoff spots in their respective streams.
Mukula Young Santos and Berea FC will wrap up Saturday's programme. Young Santos are still reeling from their 2-1 defeat to Matangari Rising Stars in the quarter-finals of the Nwali Soccer Tournament last Saturday.
On Sunday, Madzhanini FC will face Tshitereke Citizen Stars in the opening match, followed by Tshikambe FC against Duthuni Try Again. Dzunga Young Vultures and Lwamondo Mighty Brothers will lock horns shortly after midday.
Sambandou United Professionals (Supro) will need to be at their best to beat Ngwenani Young Chiefs and progress to the next round. The Young Chiefs impressed during their SAFA Vhembe Regional League promotional playoff campaign. Containing the likes of Thendo Mathobo and the team's Rastafarian striker, Rotondwa Rammela, will be no easy task for the Supro defenders.
