Phindulo Mungwena (24), better known as D Martin Rulas, has left his mark on the music industry with the release of his amapiano debut album called Somewhere in Venda.
The album, comprising 15 songs, was finally released two weeks ago. Mugwena, who stays at Siambe, started his musical career when he was still young. He joined the primary school's choir.
He said he was influenced by famous musicians such as Mizo Phyll and Bellafonte. "I fell in love with music at a young age. Music was always in my bones," he said.
"Before recording the album, I performed at different places, including community events, to make sure that people were getting used to my music. The bookings were overflowing and it proved that people love my music. My music is purely vocal, but we also add musical instruments in a few songs," he said.
He added that he was quite delighted about the fact that his songs were regularly getting airplay on SABC radio and community radio stations.
His debut album has soothing vocal tracks, which Mugwena believes will please the fans. The popular tracks include Malende, Tsha, ulovha, Masindi and Latsha.
Mugwena is also very outspoken about music piracy. "Piracy destroys music, and it amounts to theft. If people have difficulties in getting our music, they can also call me on 076 031 7577," he added. He is also available on most of the social media platforms.
