Waterval-based artist and producer Kislev Ramanyimi, better known as Flash Cortez, has released his latest single, Face Card, a bonus track from his upcoming album, Maila, which is dedicated to the memory of his late sister.
Released on 10 July, the song quickly gained traction after a teaser posted on TikTok received an overwhelming response, prompting Cortez to release it. The single adds to a string of achievements for the rising artist. His hit song, Phambili nge War, has amassed more than 1.4 million views on YouTube.
Last year, he earned his first international accolade by winning the Best Producer award at the Lesotho Music Awards (LMAs), further cementing his reputation as one of the region's emerging artists and producers.
Cortez described Face Card as a love song that encourages people to appreciate their partners and make them feel valued.
“It is a song which I felt everyone can relate to, to make their partners feel loved and proud of them. It reminds people that their loved one cannot be compared to anyone. Any couple can use it to make their loved ones feel special,” he said.
He said he had no intention of releasing the song until fans changed his mind.
“I was not planning to release it, but after I posted it as a teaser on TikTok, more than 500 people reposted it within four days. That made me want to release the song because it was not normal and it was well received by my fans,” he said.
The upcoming album, Maila, holds special significance as it honours his late sister, whom he described as his biggest supporter.
“She was my biggest supporter, and that’s why I named the album after her. I believe the album will help me always remember her,” he said.
